The Ten Types of Propaganda |
emotional appeal
Emotional appeal is a logical fallacy, or at least a very bad way of making an objective argument, whereby a one attempts to win an argument by trying to get an emotional reaction from the opponents or audience. This image seems very dramatic. It was taken at the precise moment, at the peak of all action and all emotions. As it may have occurred to the audience, this image is very appealing emotionally as the subject seems very passionate. Based on this example, Barack Obama would be a hard-working individual who never gives up, an individual with great, persistent values. Although this image does show us a part of a truth, and although it does not contain fallacies, it is a widely-used propaganda technique used to appeal to the audience most effectively. A good way to get someone convinced is by making them feel emotions that are likely to give them a bias or tendency towards the subject.
